An etching is very similar to a drawingf because its as if it was drawing the differenc is that an etxhing is more of an engravement, however both use ink, both show a picture as a whole. they are both sketches. hope i helped tag me if you need help 
 An etching is technically when you make a drawing by carving into a surface.
